Attractive locations

Butrint

An ancient city on a wooded peninsula south of Saranda, with Greek and Roman remains including a theatre, baptistery and city walls. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site beside a quiet lagoon.

Ksamil Islets

Four small islands just off the shore of Ksamil, with clear shallow water and small beaches nearby. They can be reached by a short boat ride or paddle from the mainland.

Blue Eye

A deep natural spring east of Saranda where cold water wells up in vivid shades of blue, surrounded by forest. A short walk from the car park leads to viewing spots over the pool.

Lekuresi Castle

A hilltop fortress above Saranda with views over the town, the bay and across the Ionian Sea to the Greek island of Corfu. Its walls and a cafe-restaurant make a popular sunset stop.

Lake Butrint

A shallow lagoon beside the Butrint ruins, linked to the sea by a narrow channel. It is a quiet area for birdwatching, and local mussel farming is part of its character.

Porto Palermo Fortress

A small triangular fortress on a rocky spit in Porto Palermo Bay, built under the Ottoman ruler Ali Pasha. Visitors can walk through the courtyard and look out over the bay.

Airports

Tirana International Airport Mother Teresa TIA

Rinas, Albania

It is about 173 km in a straight line from Sarandë and Ksamil.
