Attractive locations

Rapa Nui National Park

Protected area covering much of the island, with the famous moai statues, ceremonial platforms and old village sites. A UNESCO World Heritage site and the main reason to visit.

Rano Raraku

Volcanic crater where the moai were carved from soft rock. Many statues stand half-buried on the slopes and others lie unfinished in the quarry.

Anakena

White-sand beach with palm trees and a platform of restored moai. It is one of the few good swimming spots on the island.

Rano Kau

Large volcanic crater with a freshwater lake and floating reeds in the bottom. Trails along the rim give wide views of the crater and the sea.

Orongo

Ceremonial village on the rim of Rano Kau, linked to the birdman cult. Stone houses and carved rocks overlook small islets in the ocean.

Tahai

Archaeological complex beside the harbour of Hanga Roa, with restored platforms and moai. It is a favourite place for watching the sunset.

Ahu Tongariki

A long platform of fifteen restored moai standing in a row, the largest ceremonial platform on the island. It is a famous place to watch the sun come up.

Airports

Mataveri International Airport IPC

Isla De Pascua, Chile

It is about 9 km in a straight line from Easter Island (Rapa Nui).
