Attractive locations

Cayo Guillermo

Small island at the western end of the chain, known for its white beaches and clear shallow water. Playa Pilar is its best-known beach, named after Ernest Hemingway's fishing boat.

Cayo Paredón Grande

Quiet island east of Cayo Coco with long sandy beaches and a lighthouse. It is calmer than the resort beaches nearby and is reached by a causeway.

Laguna de Leche

Large natural lake in Ciego de Ávila province, named for its milky colour. Its shores and shallows attract birds, and it makes a quiet stop on a trip inland from the keys.

Cayo Coco

Large island off Cuba's north coast, reached by a long causeway, with white beaches, shallow lagoons and wetlands where flamingos feed. Resorts line its northern shore.

Cayo Santa María

Cay further west along the Jardines del Rey chain, linked to the mainland by a long sea causeway. It has powdery beaches and calm turquoise water, with a quieter feel than the larger resort areas.
