Attractive locations

Ras Muhammad National Park

Protected area at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, known for coral reefs, clear water and rich marine life. Snorkelling and diving boats go here, and a coastal path crosses the park.

SS Dunraven

British steamship that sank in the 19th century and now lies upside down on the sea floor. It is a popular dive site for those with experience, covered with coral and home to many fish.

Jackson Reef

Reef in the Strait of Tiran popular with experienced divers. Currents can be strong, and divers come to see large fish and a shipwreck on the reef.

Al-Sahaba Mosque

Large mosque in the Old Market area, with a white exterior, a tall minaret and decorative domes. It is a landmark of the town and visitors should dress modestly.

Na'ama Bay

Sharm's main seafront, a curved bay with a beach, promenade and cafes, and a shallow reef close to shore. Evenings are lively along the walkway.

Mount Sinai

Rugged granite peak in the Sinai desert, traditionally linked to Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. Visitors climb a long path, often at night, to watch sunrise from the summit. It is a long day trip from Sharm.

Saint Catherine's Monastery

Orthodox monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai, among the oldest in continuous use, with ancient icons and a rare manuscript library. Only part of it is open to visitors.
