Attractive locations

Mount Nebo

Mountain where, according to tradition, Moses looked out over the Promised Land. A memorial church with Byzantine floor mosaics stands on the summit, with views toward the Dead Sea on clear days.

Al Maghtas (Baptism Site)

UNESCO-listed archaeological site east of the Jordan River, traditionally identified as the place where Jesus was baptised. Remains of churches and pools lie along a short path to the river.

Umm ar-Rasas

UNESCO-listed ruins of a Roman and Byzantine town in the desert. The Church of Saint Stephen holds a large mosaic floor showing towns of the region, and a tall stone tower stands nearby.

Dead Sea

Salt lake whose shore is the lowest dry land on Earth. The very salty water makes floating easy, and the mineral mud is popular for skin treatments.

Madaba Map

Sixth-century mosaic map of the Holy Land set in the floor of a church in Madaba, showing towns and rivers across the region. Madaba is a short drive from the Dead Sea.

Wadi Mujib

Deep canyon where the Mujib river meets the Dead Sea, with water trails through narrow gorges. Wet hiking and canyoning are available in the warmer months.

Ma'in Hot Springs

Hot waterfalls and pools in a gorge in the hills above the Dead Sea, fed by natural springs. Bathing in the warm water is the main draw.
