Attractive locations

Black Lake (Crno Jezero)

Glacial lake ringed by pine forest below the Durmitor peaks, a short walk from Žabljak. A flat path circles the water, and the mountains reflect in it on calm days.

Durmitor National Park

UNESCO-listed mountain park of high peaks, glacial lakes, deep canyons and pine forest. It is the base for hiking in summer and skiing in winter, and has a wide network of trails.

Bobotov Kuk

The highest peak of the Durmitor range, a bare rocky summit that rewards hikers with wide views. The climb is a serious full-day hike, best attempted in good weather.

Tara River Canyon

Deep, forested canyon cut by the Tara River, among the deepest in Europe. Visitors come to raft the river, cross the high bridge and stop at viewpoints above the gorge.

Lake Piva

Long, blue-green reservoir held between steep canyon walls, west of Durmitor. Boat trips and viewpoints along the road show the cliffs and the dam, and the water looks vivid on sunny days.

Đurđevića Tara Bridge

A long concrete arch bridge, finished in 1940, spanning the deep Tara River canyon. Visitors stop on and beside it for views down the gorge.
