Attractive locations

Shifen Waterfall

Wide curtain of water falling over a rocky ledge in a forested river valley. A footpath from the old railway village leads to viewing platforms.

Yehliu Geopark

Rocky cape where wind and sea have carved strange shapes, including mushroom-like pillars and a famous formation called the Queen's Head.

New Taipei City Gold Museum

Museum in the old mining village of Jinguashi, with displays on gold mining, former miners' buildings, and tunnels that visitors can enter.

Ōgon Shrine (Golden Shrine)

Ruins of a Shinto shrine built on a hillside above Jinguashi during the Japanese period. Stone steps and old pillars remain, with views toward the coast.

Bitou Cape

Headland on the northeast coast with a seaside trail of steps and boardwalks. It passes sandstone cliffs and rock formations shaped by the waves.

Jiufen Old Street

A narrow, stepped lane of teahouses, snack stalls and shops in a former gold-mining village on a hillside. At dusk, lanterns light up the alleys and the view stretches to the sea.

Houtong Cat Village
