Attractive locations

Fujairah Fort

A restored fort on a low hill above the town, one of the oldest in the UAE. Its walls and towers show how the town was once defended.

Fujairah Heritage Village

An open-air recreation of traditional life on the east coast, with palm-frond huts, farming tools and craft demonstrations. A relaxed way to learn about the area's past.

Al Hayl Castle

An old fort in the foothills of the Hajar Mountains, made of stone and mud. Its tower overlooks a wadi and farm plots, and the setting is peaceful.

Al Bithnah Fort

A historic watchtower fort in a mountain valley, built to guard an old route across the Hajar range. A small, well-kept site worth a stop on a drive through the wadi.

Kalba Mangrove Reserve

A protected mangrove forest along the coast near Kalba. Kayak paddles through the channels reveal birds and quiet backwaters, and the rare white-collared kingfisher lives here.

Al Badiyah Mosque

A small mosque of stone and mud set against the Hajar Mountains, widely regarded as the oldest in the UAE and believed to date from the 15th century. It is still used for prayer, so dress modestly.

Wadi Wurayah

A mountain valley and protected area with streams and waterfalls that run for much of the year, which is rare in the UAE. Walking routes follow the water, and protected-area rules apply.
