Attractive locations

Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex

Museum complex in Mossel Bay about the Portuguese sailors who landed here in the 15th century. It includes a full-size ship replica and the old Post Office Tree.

Cape St. Blaize Lighthouse

White lighthouse on a headland above Mossel Bay, with a coastal walking path below it. The cliffs and the sea views are the main attraction.

Seal Island

Rocky islet off Mossel Bay crowded with Cape fur seals. Boat trips take visitors close enough to watch them swim and rest on the rocks.

Cango Caves

A large cave system in the Swartberg foothills near Oudtshoorn, with big chambers of dripstone formations. Guided tours cover the main halls, and a more adventurous route is offered for the energetic.

Knysna Heads

Two sandstone cliffs guarding the narrow entrance from the Knysna lagoon to the sea. Viewpoints above the gap look over the lagoon, ocean and rocky shore.

Wilderness section of Garden Route National Park

A coastal area of lakes, estuaries and forest around the town of Wilderness, with canoeing, birdwatching and walking trails. Lagoons and beaches fill much of the landscape.

Plettenberg Bay

A holiday town on a curving bay with long beaches, whale and dolphin sightings and the Robberg peninsula nearby. It is a popular stop for hiking and water sports.

Airports

George Airport GRJ

George, South Africa

It is about 34 km in a straight line from Garden Route.
